Is the Gates belt real? Can it break? How durable is it?
Yes, it’s a genuine Gates Carbon Drive CDX belt engineered with carbon fiber tensile cords for exceptional strength. It comes with a 12,000 km or 2-year warranty and typically lasts up to 5× longer than traditional chains. When properly tensioned and kept clean, it’s extremely reliable and rarely fails in normal use.
Is the Bafang automatic shifting system reliable?
Absolutely. The Bafang H730 automatic 3-speed hub is proven globally with sealed internal gearing for durability. It was recently recognised with a German Design Award for innovation and reliability. The system carries a 24-month warranty and reduces user error and drivetrain wear by shifting automatically.
Can I turn off automatic shifting or shift manually?
No. The H730 is fully automatic and cannot be turned off. You can adjust the pedal-assist mode via the display, which influences how and when the system shifts. Manual gear shifting is not required.
What’s the real-world riding range?
Up to 120 km in Eco mode under ideal conditions (flat terrain, ~75 kg rider). Most riders can expect 70–90 km in Normal mode depending on terrain, rider weight, speed, tyre pressure and weather.
How long does it take to charge the battery? Where can I charge it?
Charging takes 4–6 hours with the included charger. The Samsung battery is removable so you can charge on-bike or indoors using any standard 240V Australian outlet.
Can I ride in the rain? What’s the waterproof rating?
Yes. Battery and lights are IP65 rated for heavy rain. The Gates belt will not rust. Avoid deep submersion or prolonged standing water.
Does the belt drive require maintenance?
Minimal. Wipe clean occasionally and check tension every few months. No lubrication or degreasing required. No oil, no mess.

Do you provide replacement parts if something goes wrong?
Yes. We stock and supply replacement parts for major components including Gates belts, Bafang motors, displays, batteries, brakes, and drivetrain parts. If a part fails under warranty, we’ll replace it at no cost. After warranty, we supply parts at a fair price from our Brisbane warehouse. Our service team ensures you’re never without support.
Where are Horacio bikes designed?
All bikes are designed in Brisbane, Australia. Each bike is inspected and test-assembled before shipment to ensure reliability.
Can I test ride the Serenio?
Yes, test rides are available at our Hillcrest showroom in Brisbane.

What’s the maximum load capacity?
Maximum load (rider + cargo + accessories) is 125 kg. The optional rear rack supports up to 25 kg for cargo only and must not be used to carry passengers.
Are the tyres puncture-resistant?
Yes. The Serenio uses KENDA K935 with K-Shield puncture protection. They greatly reduce the risk of flats, though no tyre is 100% puncture-proof.
Do the lights turn on automatically?
Yes. Integrated front and rear lights are IP65 and auto-activate via ambient light sensors. Powered by the main battery, so there’s no separate charging.
